EMOTION hat Politikerin Katrin Helling-Plahr (FDP) gefragt, wie sie ihre kleine Familie und politische Karriere unter einen Hut bekommt.
"Mein Sohn ist eineinhalb Jahre alt. Das Bundestagsmandat mit der Kindererziehung unter einen Hut zu bringen ist anstrengend, aber machbar. Schließlich habe ich es mir genau so ausgesucht. Das ist ein wichtiger Aspekt, denn ich glaube nicht, dass ein Lebensentwurf grundsätzlich besser oder vorzugswürdiger ist als ein anderer. Letztlich muss man mit sich selbst im Reinen sein und das Modell leben, das den eigenen Wünschen am nächsten kommt. In den Sitzungswochen in Berlin ist mein Sohn oft bei mir. Allenthalben wird uns freundlich und mit Verständnis begegnet. Mein einziger Wunsch wäre, dass es entweder eine vernünftige Kinderbetreuung für die Abgeordneten gäbe – da sieht es nämlich recht mau aus – oder man kleinere Kinder auch dauerhaft mit ins Plenum nehmen dürfte. (Da gibt es derzeit nur gewisse Ausnahmen für ganz junge Kinder.) Da man im Plenum natürlich in Ruhe debattieren können muss, wäre die Betreuung sicher vorzugswürdig. Unser persönliches Modell funktioniert aber natürlich nur, weil mein Ehemann es mitträgt."
